How Invisalign works
You wear a set of custom, near-invisible aligners that you change every week or two. Each set moves your teeth a little closer to their planned position. Because they're removable, you take them out to eat, brush, and floss — so nothing about your daily routine has to change much.
Designed with a digital scan
We take a digital scan of your teeth — no messy impressions — and map out the movements before treatment begins, so you can see where you're headed. Then we check your progress along the way and make adjustments as needed. Deciding between clear aligners and metal brackets? Read Invisalign vs. braces.
Am I a candidate for Invisalign?
Invisalign works well for most mild-to-moderate cases of crowding, gaps, and bite misalignment, and for both teens and adults who are consistent about wearing their aligners. Because the aligners are removable, success depends partly on discipline — they need to be worn roughly 20 to 22 hours a day to keep treatment on schedule, which is worth considering honestly before you commit. Teens are candidates too, provided they can be relied on to wear aligners consistently; we'll talk this through with parents at the consultation. For more complex bite issues — significant overbite, underbite, or crowding — clear aligners can still work, but treatment may take longer or, in some cases, traditional braces may be the more predictable option. We'll tell you honestly which fits your case after your scan.
What to expect: the Invisalign process
Invisalign treatment follows a clear sequence from first scan to finished smile. It typically runs:
- Consultation and digital scan — we scan your teeth (no messy impressions) and review your bite and goals to confirm you're a candidate.
- Treatment plan and preview — using the scan, we map out the full sequence of tooth movements so you can see roughly where your smile is headed before you commit.
- Wearing your aligners — you switch to a new set every one to two weeks, wearing each set 20–22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, brush, and floss.
- Progress check-ins — we see you periodically to confirm your teeth are tracking with the plan and adjust if needed.
- Refinements, if needed — some cases need a short additional round of aligners near the end to fine-tune the result.
- Retention — once treatment is complete, you wear a retainer to hold your teeth in their new position.
Daily care during treatment
Caring for your aligners and teeth during treatment is straightforward, but a few habits make a real difference. Remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything besides water, since food and sugary or staining drinks trapped against your teeth can cause decay or discoloration. Brush and floss after meals before putting aligners back in, and clean the aligners daily with a soft brush and lukewarm water — hot water can warp the plastic. If your plan includes small tooth-colored attachments to help the aligners grip, brush carefully around them and let us know if one comes loose. Keeping your aligners in for the full 20–22 hours a day is the single biggest factor in staying on schedule.
After treatment: retainers
Finishing your last aligner tray doesn't mean you're done — wearing a retainer afterward is what keeps your teeth from drifting back. Teeth naturally tend to shift over time, especially right after active treatment, so we'll fit you with a retainer and a wear schedule, often full-time at first and then nights only, to lock in your result. Beyond retainer wear, your straightened teeth need the same ongoing care as before — and straighter teeth are genuinely easier to clean thoroughly, which supports better long-term gum and tooth health.

Book a consultationCommon questions
- How much does Invisalign cost in North Miami Beach?
- Cost depends on how much movement your teeth need and how long treatment takes. After a consultation we give you a clear estimate, and you can spread payments with CareCredit financing or save with our membership plan.
- How long does Invisalign take?
- Most treatments take about 6 to 18 months depending on your case. We'll give you a realistic timeline after we scan your teeth and plan your movements.
- Is Invisalign better than braces?
- Clear aligners are removable, nearly invisible, and easy to clean around. For many common cases they work as well as braces; for complex cases we'll tell you honestly what fits best.
- How many hours a day do I need to wear Invisalign?
- Aligners need to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day to keep treatment on schedule, removing them only to eat, drink anything but water, and brush and floss. Wearing them less consistently can extend your treatment timeline.
- Will Invisalign work for a teenager?
- Yes — Invisalign is suitable for many teens, provided they're consistent about wearing aligners for the required hours and switching sets on schedule. We'll evaluate your teen's case and talk through what compliance looks like at the consultation.
- Do I need to wear a retainer after finishing Invisalign?
- Yes — a retainer after treatment is what keeps your teeth from shifting back toward their original position. We'll set you up with a wear schedule once your active treatment is complete.
- Can Invisalign fix an overbite or crossbite, not just crowding?
- Clear aligners can address many bite issues, including some overbites and crossbites, though more complex cases may take longer or, in some situations, respond better to traditional braces. We'll assess your bite at your consultation and tell you honestly which option fits.
